Course Overview  It is important for healthcare personnel overseeing or performing reprocessing of instruments to have a thorough understanding of the steps required to ensure the instruments are safe and patient ready. This course will provide participants with an overview of the procedure and recommendations for reprocessing Olympus flexible (cystoscopes, ureteroscopes, hysteroscopes and intubating bronchoscopes), rigid (telescopes, camera heads and light leads) and semi rigid (flexible laparoscopic telescopes) instruments. It will also provide information on the proper care and handling of these instruments to minimise damage and reduce repairs. Participants will learn to recognise the important processes required for precleaning, leak testing, manual cleaning, high level disinfection, sterilisation and storage. An overview of instruments mechanics and nomenclature of instruments will also be discussed. Reprocessing demonstration will be provided for commonly used Olympus medical instruments and accessories.

Certification Nurses may claim this course as 6 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity.
